The Brief given by the clients for designing the Play area was to create a space fo their kids would be able to explore nature as well as be intriged by the playful tous specially designed and positioned in aspecific space in their large home. We hene researched and came across the ‘Theory of Loose Parts’ which was first proposed by Architect Simon Nicholson in the 1970’s.
Nicholson believed that it is the ‘Loose parts’ in our environment that will empower the creativity of the child. Hence in the Play area designed, we have used various ‘Loose parts’ which can be moved, carried, combined, redesigned, lined up and taken apat and put back together in multiple ways.
The idea evolved into a having a full scale working clay kitchen, a Tree house, a train, a small class room, area with musical instruments, a path for rding bicycles, a hopscoth, sand pit and a fountain area.
